Philly Goes to College

The overall purpose of the PhillyGoes2College Initiative is to motivate more youth, adults and current college students in Philadelphia to pursue and complete college.  Moreover, by involving all segments of the community in this initiative, Philadelphians attending or planning to attend college in the region, will realize that Philadelphia is the ideal city to earn a college degree and to live in while pursuing a rewarding career. On Tuesday, February 23, 2010, the City of Philadelphia will celebrate the grand opening of the Philly Goes2College office in City Hall.  The PhillyGoes2College Initiative is designed to serve as a resource for students and adults who are seeking a college education with the goal of making college accessible to all Philadelphians. 

This spring, PhillyGoes2College, is organizing three city-wide events designed to help Philadelphians complete the Free Application For Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and learn about the range of financial aid resources available to help fund college.  We hope you will join us for the first event:

You are also welcome to attend any one of the FAFSA Completion Events taking place across the city over the next several months.  Simply browse the calendar below for a date, time and location that is convenient for you.

Students and parents should bring the following items to the FAFSA Completion Workshops:

  • Social Security Number/Alien Registration Number
  • Driver’s License Number
  • W-2 Forms/2008 or 2009
  • 1040 Federal Income Tax Return
  • Records of Untaxed Income (i.e. TANF, Social Security, Welfare or Veterans Benefits)

 

All events listed are free and open to the public. 

Note: Graduate! Philadelphia workshops are geared towards adults who have some college credit and are interested in returning to college. If you are an adult returning to college and these dates are not convenient for you, please contact the Graduate! Philadelphia office at info@graduatephiladelphia.org or call 215-574-1341 and select option two.
