Mayor’s Internship Program 2014
The Mayor’s Internship Program is a ten-week summer internship for college undergraduates and graduate students beginning in June 2014. Mayor’s Interns are placed in various city departments and offices during their internship and participate in weekly events aimed at exposing them to municipal government operations and careers. MORE
The Philadelphia Youth Network’s WorkReady summer internships is continuing its partnership with the City of Philadelphia to provide the “Summer in the City” High School Internship program during the summer of 2013. The “Summer in the City” High School Internship program with the City of Philadelphia municipal government is a six-week internship for Philadelphia high school students beginning in early July 2013. Students will spend 16 hours per week in an internship with a City department or office and an additional four hours in workplace skills and leadership development training with the Philadelphia Youth Network’s WorkReady summer internships.
“Summer in the City” High School Internship Program
The “Summer in the City” High School Internship Program with the City of Philadelphia municipal government is a paid six-week internship beginning on Tuesday, July 1st and ending on Friday, August 8th. As a participating employer with the Philadelphia Youth Network’s WorkReady Summer Internship Program, the City of Philadelphia municipal government will hire 100 students to work in various municipal placements for the duration of the internship term. Students will have the opportunity to be placed in a variety of different fields as part of the internship, including health, human services, finance, and law - just to name a few.
As part of the WorkReady Summer Internship Program, students are required to spend 16-hours per week in an internship with a city department or office and an additional four hours each Friday in workplace skill and leadership development training. In addition, students will attend a College and Career Fair hosted by the City of Philadelphia. Interns will be required to attend a general orientation session through the WorkReady Summer Internship Program. Interns working specifically with the Philadelphia municipal government are also required to attend the city’s one-day internship orientation on their first day. The orientation includes a welcome ceremony with Mayor Michael Nutter, team-building activities, and information about working in city municipal government. MORE
