Hosting an intern through the Office of Leadership Investment is a great opportunity to be a mentor to a young person interested in municipal government and to help develop a future leader within City government.
Departments wishing to host an intern are responsible for identifying an appropriate supervisor, space and supplies, and projects or assignments for their intern to complete during the program term. Additionally, departments are responsible for ensuring that the tasks and projects are age and skill-level appropriate for the intern(s) they are supervising. For those departments who want to host a high school intern, you will also be required to designate a mentor for your intern. Department staff must also be available for periodic programming and training leading up to and during the internship or fellowship term.
The Office of Leadership Investment can also help support your department internship needs by posting potential internship opportunities to our website. Below you will find more information on how to request an intern or fellow and post other internship opportunities.
