PARK MANAGEMENT TRAINEE


GENERAL DEFINITION

This is work of a training nature developing knowledge and skills in park management. Assignments are limited but of increasing scope and difficulty as an incumbent receives formal training and on the job experience in such park operations as administration, horticulture, arboriculture, grounds maintenance and recreation. As experience is attained an incumbent becomes eligible for promotion to the next level of park manager. Work is performed under the supervision of an administrative superior.

ALLOCATING FACTORS: (The following conditions must be met for a position to be allocated to this class.)

  1. Positions in this class must perform work of a training nature developing knowledge and skills in park management.
  2. Positions in this class must perform the work in the Fairmount Park Commission.


TYPICAL EXAMPLES OF WORK (ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY)

Receives on the job training in the administrative, horticulture, arboriculture, grounds maintenance and/or recreation divisions on a planned rotating basis.

Gathers and analyzes data, recommends action and prepares reports for administrative superiors.

Reads text books, manuals, instructions, and regulations to develop knowledge, skills and abilities in the park management field.

Performs related work as required.

PHYSICAL AND MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to physically perform the duties and to work in the environmental conditions required of a position in this class.
