GARBAGE COLLECTION SUPERVISOR


GENERAL DEFINITION

This is administrative work directing and coordinating a city-wide garbage collections program. The employee has responsibility for advertising and negotiating with private contractors on garbage collection routes and resolving complaints from the general public and private contractors as they affect collections. Of major significance to the work is the establishing and maintaining of effective working relationships with subordinates, private contractors and the general public.

Work is preformed under the general supervision of an administrative superior. Assignments require the use of evaluative thinking and are performed in accordance with accepted garbage and refuse collection standards and applicable regulations. The employee in the class has controlling responsibility for supervising a city-wide garbage collection program.
