GENERAL DEFINITION

This is supervisory level inspection and code enforcement work. Employees in this class direct the activities of a group of field employees performing inspections, investigations and related code enforcement work to determine conformance to the provisions of local statutes, ordinances, codes, regulations and standards governing commercial and business activities or commercial weighing and measuring devices.

Employees in this class may also conduct inspections which involve more complex and sensitive cases. Contact with commercial and industrial representatives, officials of governmental agencies and the general public is significant to the work. Work may include exposure to potentially hazardous conditions. Work is performed under the direction of a technical supervisor.
