This is full performance level program analysis work in the area of specialization planning,
evaluating, monitoring and researching proposed and continuing criminal justice grants and programs of
various governmental and private agencies. Work includes examining and participating in the
development of grants and programs to improve operations and coordination of activities of these various
criminal justice agencies. Working with the public and local, state and federal officials to coordinate
grant proposals and programs is a significant aspect of the work.
Employees in this class participate in coordinating programs for a network of private and public
criminal justice agencies in the city.
Research
- Analyzes occurrences, demographics and patterns of crime within the metropolitan area; projects
future trends as to the type of criminal activities, frequency, and geographic locations; collects data from
various criminal justice sources; establishes procedures to obtain necessary data on a regular basis;
assembles and designates data into meaningful format; prepares reports of historical trends, projections,
and conclusions.
- Analyzes city, state and federal legislation pertaining to the law, judiciary and criminal offenses;
reviews legislative publications, bulletins and bills to assess impact on criminal justice network; organizes
data into such areas as source of issues, content analysis, issues research, crime analysis, and current
issues; submits new and proposed legislation to interested officials; prepares reports on officials'
comments; prepares and circulates reports on content and possible effect of proposed legislation on
criminal justice systems.

agencies and organization for the Planning specialty.

evaluations.

MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

- Completion of a bachelor's degree program at an accredited college or university.
- Two years of administrative experience planning, developing, and implementing criminal justice
and/or human service programs, one year of which has been above the training level.
Or any equivalent combination of acceptable education and experience which has included a
bachelor's degree as an educational minimum.
PHYSICAL AND MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to physically perform the duties and to work in the environmental conditions required of a position in this class.
