DATA SYSTEM USER SUPPORT SUPERVISOR


GENERAL DEFINITION

This is clerical and data processing work at the first supervisory level. The employees in this class are responsible for monitoring data processing activities of data systems user support staff and the operations and services provided by a large clerical staff. An employee in this class is responsible for supervising training and other facilitating support services to users in connection with personal computers, networked workstations, or host computers and their applications. Work includes supervising a clerical staff in processing records and reports. Contact with departmental administrators to coordinate the entry of data and oversee the operations of providing training and technical support in software applications for users in inputting storage, retrieval, tracking, and analysis of key data associated with departmental work are significant aspects of the work.

Work is performed under the supervision of an administrative superior.

ALLOCATING FACTORS: (The following conditions must be met for a position to be allocated to this class.)

  1. Positions in this class must supervise a group of subordinate Data Support User Specialists and a large clerical staff that provides clerical assistance to a professional staff.
  2. Only one position will be approved per department.
