ELECTION AND VOTER REGISTRATION CLERK I



GENERAL DEFINITION

This is routine clerical work performed in support of city-wide primary, general and special elections. Employees in this class perform one or more routine clerical tasks prior to and after primary, general and special elections. Work involves registering citizens to vote, proofreading, filing, posting, preparation of elections supplies for each polling site and checking materials returned. The work is distinguished from other clerical classes in terms of dispensing information on the registration process and the need to readily learn pertinent sections of the elections law. Work is performed under the supervision of a clerical supervision or higher level clerk.
