Otis Hackney believes in improving opportunities for all children. Otis is a Philadelphia native who began his career teaching mathematics at Germantown High School and more recently served as principal at South Philadelphia High School, where he successfully helped heal divisions after high-profile instances of racially motivated school violence. Under his leadership, South Philadelphia High School also adopted a “community school” approach by creating unique partnerships with supportive service providers. Otis’ work as a former teacher and principal, and now as the current Chief Education Officer, is motivated by healing divides and listening to children and community members’ needs.
