The first Earth Day took place in 1970 and was sparked by one of the largest oil spills at the time. In Philadelphia, participants gathered at Belmont Plateau and elsewhere throughout the city to call attention to environmental issues. 2020 will mark the 50th anniversary of Earth Day and that’s why we are releasing our next Greenworks Review magazine in April 2020!

What is Greenworks Review?

Greenworks Review is our annual recap of progress made by our office and by residents and community groups all across the city in making Philadelphia a sustainable city for all. Greenworks Review features tips to live more sustainably, interviews with activists and changemakers from across the city, and helpful guides and resources.
