It’s Game On at Philadelphia Parks & Rec! We’re celebrating Park and Recreation Month with the National Recreation and Park Association. Here are some great ways to play and have fun with us this July–and beyond:

1. Try your hand at America’s newest sport
Have you heard of padel? It’s a cross between squash and tennis. It’s popular in South America and Europe, but little-known in the United States. Check out the pop-up padel court at Venice Island Performing Arts & Recreation Center in Manayunk. It’s the first public court in a public park in the United States! The temporary padel courts will host introductory workshops, pro demonstration games, and open play until October.
2. Saddle up
Did you know that you can ride horses in some of Philly’s parks? Parks & Rec offers miles of trails open to joggers, cyclists, and equestrians. Explore our horseback riding options.
 3. Play golf “fore” fun
4. Get your board (or card) game on
Many of our playgrounds, recreation centers, and older adult centers host board game clubs and/or nights. Check out these:

Other game clubs and nights resume in the fall. Some of our sites even host video game clubs! Use the Parks & Rec Finder to locate game clubs and nights near you!

5. Create a fish tale
Casting a line and catching a fish is a great way to enjoy the summer sun. We recommend packing a bag with sunscreen, healthy snacks, and lots of bait! Here’s where to go fish.
6. Special summer fun & games
Parks & Rec handy Finder app offers information on our sites and activities throughout the year.
