Standing Committees

EDUCATION COMMITTEE

The education committee is responsible for discussing, generating ideas, reviewing legislation, and making recommendations regarding education in Philadelphia. The education committee participates in an ongoing discussion about promoting quality education within Philadelphia and collaborates with the Philadelphia School District and the City of Philadelphia to enhance the knowledge of the city’s school systems.

PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE


The public safety committee is responsible for discussing, generating ideas, reviewing legislation, and making recommendations regarding police matters, youth violence and the juvenile justice system. The committee aims to provide timely interventions to break the cycle of violence and to teach the needed skills to nonviolently resolve conflict in homes and neighborhoods.

HEALTH AND RECREATION COMMITTEE


The Health and Recreation Committee is responsible for discussing, generating ideas, reviewing legislation, and making recommendations regarding all matters related to the well-being of youth in the City of Philadelphia, health, recreation, and the environment. The committee will coordinate health and human services related programming in the community.

JOBS AND ECONOMICS COMMITTEE


The Jobs and Employment Committee is responsible for discussing, generating ideas, reviewing legislation, and making recommendations regarding internships, youth employment, and job-readiness.
