The Opera Company
of Philadelphia
The Opera Company of Philadelphia,
one of the fastest-growing opera companies in North America,
is Philadelphia's only grand opera company. Established in
1975 through a merger of the Philadelphia Grand Opera Company and the Philadelphia
Lyric Opera Company, the Opera Company of Philadelphia is considered home to
some of opera's brightest singers, composers, directors and conductors. Highlights
of the 2002-2003 season include Georges Bizet´s Carmen, Giuseppe Verdi´s
La Traviata, and Mozart´s Cosi fan tutte. Performances are staged at
the Academy of Music.

the Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts
The Annenberg Center for the Performing
Arts serves the University of Pennsylvania and the greater
Delaware Valley region as a nationally-known comprehensive
performing arts venue. Featuring three theatres, the Annenberg
offers a broad-based program of music, theater, dance, arts
education, and outreach for both adult and young people's audiences.
Highlights of the 2002-2003 season range from the world-class
jazz of Herbie Hancock, to the fiery Afro-Cuban music of Juan de Marcos González,
unsung hero of the Buena Vista Social Club, to the medieval and Renaissance holiday
carols of Chanticleer. |
