What You Need To Know About Regional Rail Service

1. Schedules

Regional Rail service will operate according to the current schedules with some schedule adjustments, including Express trains making more local stops and some additional service. For line-specific information, see www.septa.org/news/sip/guide.html.

2. Ticket Collection & Train Boarding

All regular fares will continue to apply in the event of a work stoppage. Unless otherwise directed by authorized SEPTA staff, fares will be collected for each trip made inbound and outbound on all trains. Customers traveling during peak hours must purchase tickets prior to traveling as there will be no cash sales on board trains. In addition, riders will be assessed a $2.00 surcharge when boarding other trains at a station with an open ticket office or functioning ticket vending machine.

During the PM peak, customers leaving from Market East, Suburban, and 30th Street Station will be asked to wait in line at the concourse level where fares will be collected prior to boarding. All passes will be subject to inspection and will be validated by SEPTA fare collection personnel.

3. Parking

Parking is available at most Regional Rail Stations, although the number of spaces may be limited and the lots fill up early on weekdays. Some stations are located near municipal parking. Daily parking fees at the SEPTA lots range from $1 .00-$2.00 and must be paid using coins, before boarding the train.

In the event of a work stoppage the SEPTA Service Guarantee Program will be temporarily suspended.

4. Regional Rail Fares

Passes offer the best value for your money and will make traveling easier.Weekly or Monthly TransPasses will be valid at all times for travel to Regional Rail stations within the City, with the exception of Forest hills and Somerton Stations. These stations will require a Zone 3 ticket or Pass. TrailPasses are valid for travel on Regional Rail to destinations in the Zone indicated on the pass. Zone 3 or higher TrailPasses are valid for travel to all zones on off-peak weekday trains. All SEPTA passes are good for unrestricted travel anywhere on weekends and holidays. Riders can also purchase individual train tickets for Regional Rail travel. Tokens are not accepted on Regional Rail.

5. Sales Locations

Purchasing tickets or passes ahead of time will speed your trip and help avoid the rush. In addition to the ticket windows at 30th Street, Suburban, and Market East Stations, many outlying SEPTA train stations have ticket offices or ticket machines.
