POOL MAINTENANCE ATTENDANT : 2007 Swimming Pools

HOURS OF DUTY:Attendant/Cleaner -

7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
3:00  PM to 11:30 PM

Watchman/Cleaner -*11:00 PM to 7:00 AM

  • Applicants must be available to work any of the above schedules and be available for Saturday and Sunday work.

You will be assigned to work a 40 hour work week.  Your schedule may rotate as our facilities operate on a seven (7) day schedule Monday thru Sunday.  You will be scheduled according to the needs of the facility and your days off will vary.

DUTIES:A Pool Maintenance Attendant shall be responsible for maintaining discipline in changing and pool areas; assures adherence to pool regulations; keeps locker areas, soap, paper towels and other consumables; sweeps and picks up debris around the pool with brushes and brooms, disconnects and connects water flow lines with backwash filters;  applies chlorine to pool mechanically or by hand; makes rounds inside and outside of buildings, guards pool equipment against damage or loss by fire, theft, malfunction and other causes; keeps unauthorized persons away from area and notifies Police or Fire Department in the event of an emergency; operates pool vacuum cleaner; displays proper identification and performs related duties as required.

REQUIREMENTS:Must be 18 years of age.  Completion of the eighth (8th) school grade.  Ability to deal tactfully and courteously with the public. Ability to physically perform the duties and to work in the environmental conditions required of a position in this class.  Must be a resident of the City of Philadelphia for one (1) year prior to employment and must have the ability to vacuum filtered pools.

APPLICATIONS:Applications for this position may be obtained and returned to the Recreation Department through the pool site supervisors.

Summer employees receive no paid time off for sickness or holidays and no accrued vacation rights or other related benefits.
