The ages of the participants ran from toddlers through senior citizens. Over two hundred and fifty works were on display. The works included Drawing, Painting, Sculpture, Ceramics, Pottery and Crafts. On Wednesday, May 21st at 7:00 p.m. there will be a special awards presentation and reception. The refreshments will be provided by Tiffany's Bakery and The News Stand, Gallery I, Mall Level. The judges choose fifty-eight outstanding works of merit based on age and media. Of these, they then choose the most outstanding in Two Dimensional, Three Dimensional and Craft for youths and for adults. The six outstanding pieces receive a Best in Show Award and the other fifty received trophies. The Gallery at Market East has hosted the Spring Art Show for 23 years. Thousands of Philadelphians see the art of our talented participants at this location. Please look through our website to see what visual arts programs are offered in your neighborhood. The Awards Ceremony is to recognize Merit in all aspects of the Visual Arts and Crafts, as taught in the Philadelphia Recreation Department's Recreation Centers and Playgrounds. |
