Phred the Panda

Mr. Panda goes to Harrisburg

Governor Ed Rendell doesn't forget his old friends and he personally requested that Phred the Panda be invited to march in the Inaugural Parade in Harrisburg on January 21, 2003. Many of Philadelphia's mascots attended the event including the Philly Phanatic, Swoop (the Eagles mascot), the Temple Owl, the Drexel Dragon and our own Phred.

Phred the Panda is the Recreation Departmentīs  mascot and he is also our goodwill ambassador who appears at many recreational events.

Phred has appeared at such events as the Mummers Parade, The Broad Street Run, the Thanksgiving Day Parade, Rally in the Park, the Senior Holiday Party, Fort Mifflin and P.R.P.S. Conferences.

Phred will celebrate his 18th birthday on June 25, 2007.
