BLUE CROSS BROAD STREET RUN
PROGRAM PURPOSE For the many fine artists throughout the city in our recreational visual arts programs to create a piece in celebration of the Broad Street Run, its participants, sponsors, workers and volunteers.
ARTWORK Any two-dimensional artwork (drawing, sketch, illustration, painting, etc.) Artists may use drawing paper, canvas boards, canvas, paints, crayons, pencils, markers, etc.
SIZES No bigger than 12" x 18" and no smaller than 4 3/4" x 6 1/2" (half letter size)
PROGAM AND DATES Each facility supervisor may submit an unlimited amount of pieces to the district chairperson by April 24, 2008.
Each district chairperson is asked to submit the top ten pieces from their district to the Visual Arts Office in Fisher Park by April 25, 2008 by 4 PM.
EXHIBIT Artwork from the city level will be displayed at the Broad Street Run Expo held at Lincoln Financial Field on Friday and Saturday, May 2 and 3, 2008.
JUDGING AND AWARDS Certificates of Participation will be given to all participants whose piece makes it to the district level.
Certificates of Award and a Broad Street Run T-Shirt will be given to all participants whose piece makes it to the city level.
The top ten entries as voted on by the runners and visitors at the Expo will receive a Certificate of Award, Blue Cross Broad Street Run T-Shirt and an additional prize awarded by the Blud Cross Broad Street Run Committee.
HIGHLIGHTS TO CONSIDER
The Race is conducted by the Philadelphia Recreation Department.
This is the 29th year.
Race is sponsored in part by Independence Blue Cross, Philadelphia Daily News, Lukoil, and Wissahickon Spring Water.
The Race benefits the American Cancer Society.
The Race begins at Broad and Somerville and ends at the Naval Business Center.
There are 11 Water Stations set up along Broad Street.
There are Digital Clocks at every mile.
Ambulances are stationed along the course.
Traffic is directed by the Philadelphia Police Department.
Cooperating organizations include the City of Philadelphia, the Naval Business Center, SEPTA, the Philadelphia Convention and Visitors' Bureau, Over 45 volunteer groups.
