2008 NFL/PEPSI PUNT, PASS & KICK - Activity Guide

 

OBJECTIVES:
1. To provide a wholesome recreation experience in a safe and healthy environment.
2. To have fun through participation.
3. To encourage the development of football skills with emphasis on sportsmanship.

 

A. LEVEL OF COMPETITION - Local, Sectional (City), Team Championships and Nationals.

B. ELIGIBILITY - Age Classifications
BOYS & GIRLS      BIRTHDAY INCLUSIVE

Age 8/9 January 1, 1999 to December 31, 2000
Age 10/11 January 1, 1997 to December 31, 1998
Age 12/13 January 1, 1995 to December 31, 1996
Age 14/15 January 1, 1993 to December 31, 1994

 

Boys & Girls compete separately.

1. Age classifications are based on the child's age as of 12/31/2008.
2.  Participation is open to anyone who meets the age requirement.Participant must show proof of age when required.
3. A participant may register and compete only in one (1) Local round of competition.
Competing in more than one Local round will result in the automatic disqualification of that participant.
4. All participants must submit the signed parental waiver before being permitted to participate.
  

C. RULES

1.   No football shoes, cleats, turf shoes are allowed.  Only gym shoes (soft sole) will be permitted. No bare feet are allowed.  Failure to wear gym shoes will result in the disqualification of the participant.
2. Each participant will receive one punt, one pass, and one kick.
3. Scores are based on both distance and accuracy.
4. A participant's final score will be his/her cumulative total for the three individual events.
5. If a participant goes over the line prior to or before releasing or making contact with the ball, they will be penalized five (5) feet.  Exception: in placekicking, a participant may go over the line without penalty provided the tee is placed on or behind the line.
6. There is no violation if the kicking tee is kicked with the football during the kicking event.
7. Scores will be determined from where a participant's punt/pass/kick first makes contact with the ground.  Bounces or rolls do not add to the score.
8. If a tie exists for 1st, 2nd or 3rd place at any District or Sectional competition, each participant involved in the tie will compete in a playoff to determine the final standings.  The playoff will consist of head to head competition in a repeat of the three events.
9. Late Arrival Policy: (For Local and Sectional Competitions only) A late arriving participant may compete in his or her age group as long as that age group competition is still in progress.  However, if the participant misses an entire segment (e.g. Punting), they will be given a zero for that segment.  The site coordinator will make the final ruling relating to this policy.

 

D. ADVANCEMENT

1. All participants begin at the District/Local level.
2.  ONLY First place in each age division advances to the Sectional, (city).
3. The top finisher in each age division from Section 1 and Section 2 will be eligible to advance to the Team Championships. (Not guaranteed) The top five first-place scorers in each age group from the pool of Sectional competition champions will advance to the Team Championship.  THEREFORE, IF THERE ARE MORE THAN FIVE SECTIONALS IN THE Philadelphia Eagles Market area, EVERYONE WILL NOT ADVANCE TO THE TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP-ONLY THE TOP FIVE.  A competitor must be a first place winner at the Sectional level in order to be considered for the Team championship.
4. At the Team championships, the top finisher within each age bracket at this level will be declared the NFL PEPSI Punt, Pass & Kick Team Champion.
5. Only the four first place Team Champions from each of the boys and girls divisions of the thirty-two (32) Team Champions will be eligible for advancement to the National Finals.  Their score must be one of the top four (4) nationally in their respective age group to qualify.
6. National Finalists will be notified at the conclusion of all Team Championships (end of December).

 

E. AWARDS

1. District/Local-Certificates to all participants.
Ribbons to the top three finalists in each age group.
2. Sectionals-Medals to the top three finalists in each age group
3. Team Championships -Plaques to the top three finalists in each age group.
4. National finals-Trophies to all participants.

 

F. MISCELLANEOUS

1. Participants must use equipment supplied by Punt, Pass & Kick.  No personal balls or tees can be used.
2.  All participants are subject to any District rule regarding behavior at that site.
