January 1 ROOSEVELT PARK TO SWEDISH MUSEUM Place: Broad Street and Pattison Ave. Broad St. Subway Route: Through the Park to the Museum. Distance: About 4 miles
January 8 MANAYUNK HILLS Time: 1:15 p.m. Place: Meet at the falls on Ridge Ave. Bus routes 61, E, R, 9 & 27 stop here. Route: At the discretion of our leader, we will walk along the tow path, or investigate Manayunk's Hills. Distance: 6 miles
January 15 LOWER PENNYPACK Time: 1:15 p.m. Place: Frankford Ave. & Ashburner St. (66 bus) Route: East trail to Holme Ave. (see the grave of William Penn's surveyor-general), upstream to Holme Ave. Bridge & return downstream to starting point. Distance: About 6 miles along the stream
January 22 CATHEDRAL ROAD TO PASTORIUS PARK Time: 1:15 p.m. Place: Cathedral Rd. & Ridge Ave. (end of bus routes 27 & 35) Route: East into the Wissahickon Valley and Valley Green, along Wissahickon trails up the west side to Pastorius Park, & return to the starting point. Distance: About 5 miles
January 29 NORTHWEST Time: 1:15 p.m. Place: Northwestern Ave & Germantown Pike (23 bus to end of line in Chestnut Hill, then L bus to Northwestern Ave.) Route: West trail along Forbidden Drive to Valley Green
February 5 UPPER DARBY TO CITY LINE Time: 1:15 p.m. Place: In front of 69th Street Terminal, Market St. side (D bus or the El) Route: Victory Ave., Lansdowne Ave., East Branch Creek, Woodbine Ave., Wynnefield Ave. to 54th & City Line
February 12 HISTORIC HIGHLIGHTS IN FAIRMOUNT PARK Time: 1:15 p.m. Place: Outside the zoo at 34th St. & Girard Ave. (15 trolley or 38 bus) in front of lion statue Route: North side of Girard Ave. Bridge, Hatfield House, Cliff House, Smith Playground, Mt. Pleasant, Woodford, Strawberry Mansion, Belmont Mansion, Memorial Hall, Letitia Street House & return to starting point after passing these houses.
February 19 NORTHERN LIBERTIES Time: 1:15 p.m. Place: 2nd & Market Sts., Southwest corner (Frankford-Market line) Route: Walk north to Girard and take the El.
February 26 PENNYPACK WATERSHED Time: 1:15 p.m. Place: Old York Rd. & Davisville Rd (Willow Grove stop SEPTA R2 Train or 55 bus) Route: Car Pool to Terwood & Davisville lot. Davis Rd, Pennypack Rd & Mason's Mill Rd.
March 5 DEVIL'S POOL AREA Time: 1:15 pm Place: Germantown & Springfield Aves 7800 (23 bus) Route: Hike to Devil?s Pool on to Valley Green, return to starting point
March 12 TINICUM ENVIRONMENTAL CENTER AND WILDLIFE PRESERVE Time: 1:15 pm Place: West side of Broad St between Passyunk & Snyder Aves, with transfer to 37 bus Route: Walking from 84th St & Lindbergh Blvd., follow trails along the water's edge and through the wildlife observation areas.
March 19 WALT WHITMAN WALK AND AQUARIUM Time: 1:15 p.m. Place: 5th & Market Sts. (Frankford Subway/El - E1 or 17, 33 or 48 bus) Route: Walk over Benjamin Franklin Bridge to Walt Whitman's house, via Rutgers Campus & Wiggins Park to Camden Aquarium area & return by walk over bridge, High-Speed Line or ferry.
March 26 TOOKANY CREEK AREA Time: 1:15 p.m. Place: Park Lot - Central Avenue Route: Along both sides of Tookany Creek in Philadelphia and Montgomery counties to New Second St. in Cheltenham Township and return to starting point. 3 miles.
April 2 LORIMER PARK Place: Trolley loop on Oxford Ave below Rhawn St. (SEPTA R8 or bus 18, 24 or 28) Route: Along Huntingdon Pike and Shady Lane into Lorimer Park with a stop at Fox Chase Farm on Pine Rd. We may keep hiking to the starting point.
April 9 RITTENHOUSE HOMESTEAD AND REVOLUTIONARY TRAILS Time: 1:15 P.M. Place: Wayne Ave & Rittenhouse St. (53 or 65 bus) Route: Rittenhouse St. to Radium Spa, along Paper Mill Run to Rittenhouse birthplace, Indian Profile Rock, valley Green, Valley Green Bridge, Germantown Ave & Allens Lane
April 16 RIVER TO RIVER WALK Time: 1:15 P.M. Place: Front of Art Museum Route: Along renovated areas by the Schuylkill's bank through quiet townhouses area to the Delaware River waterfront and back to Center City along the South Street area or the Italian Market.
April 23 MORRIS ABORETUM AND THE UPPER WISSAHICKON Time: 1:15 p.m. Place: Germantown Ave. & Bethlehem Pike (23 bus or L bus) Route: Bethlehem Pike, Norwood Ave. & Bell?s Mill Rd to Stenton Ave. & Meadowbrook Rd., through the Morris Arboretum, and eventually back to Germantown Ave.
April 30 PENNYPACK TO RIVERVIEW Time: 1:15 p.m. Place: Frankford Ave. & Ashburner St. (66 bus) Route: To river's edge
May 7 RAINDATE To replace a rained out walk
May 14 PENNYPACK Time: 1:15 p.m. Place: Benton & Bustleton Aves. (58 bus) Route: West trail along Pennypack Creek to Veree Rd. and return to the start
May 21 VALLEY GREEN Time: 1:15 p.m. Place: Germantown Ave. & Rex St. (23 bus) Route: along Wissahickon to Valley Green and back to Germantown Ave.
May 28 LIBRARY TO WATERFRONT Time: 1:15 p.m. Place: Central Library at 19th & Vine (R, 9 or 27 bus) Route: through city to Delaware riverfront
June 4 MIDVALE AVE. TO THE ART MUSEUM Time: 1:15 p.m. Place: East River Drive (Kelly Drive) & Midvale Ave. (61 or R bus) Route: Midvale Avenue on Kelly Drive, Down Kelly Drive to Art Museum
June 11 CATHEDRAL ROAD TO FALLS Time: 1:15 p.m. Place: Cathedral Rd. & Ridge Ave. (bus routes 27, 35 at McDonalds). Route: Along Manayunk Canal.
June 18 PENNYPACK Time: 1:15 P.M. Place: Benton & Bustleton Aves. (58 bus). Route: East trail along Pennypack Creek to Holme Ave. and return to start.
