2008 Spring into Your Park Clean, Play, Celebrate in your park
The 9th annual Spring Into Your Park will be held Saturday, April 26th. This collaborative event, co-sponsored by the members of the parks network, PHS, the Department of Recreation, and Fairmount Park with support from the Neighborhood Transformation Initiative, TreeVitalize, the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, and the Great PA Cleanup, is designed to highlight the importance of parks in community life and the strength of the citywide parks network. During this year's event, over sixty neighborhood parks will be holding cleanups, workdays, festivals, plantings, and much more. Volunteers of all ages are welcome to participate.
Join your community in celebrating spring as thousands of volunteers clean and green.
Volunteers of all ages are welcome to participate in cleanups, workdays, festivals, plantings, and much more. Last year volunteers collected 2,000 bags of trash and debris, removed more than 40 tires, planted 88 trees and 166 dozen annuals, and abated over 80 graffiti sites.
Neighborhood parks are vital to the health of a community, but they cannot thrive without our care and support. This year, the Parks Revitalization Team of the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society's Philadelphia Green program celebrates its 15th anniversary. Spring IntoYour Park is a collaborative event co-sponsored by the members of the parks network, PHS, the City of Philadelphia, the City Department of Recreation, and Fairmount Park Commission, and receives support from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, the Great PA Cleanup, Enterprise Rent-A-Car and 98.1 WOGL. Spring Into Your Park is part of the city's Love Where You Live! beautification and greening campaign
