EMPLOYEE ORIENTATION MANUAL

 

Vacation

 

Vacation credits are earned immediately beginning on an employee's first day of employment and are credited to him on a monthly basis. New employees may not use vacation during the first six months of employment. Vacation time may be accumulated and rolled over from one calendar year to the next, up to a maximum of 70 days. Employees are permitted to carry more than 70 days at any given time during the year; however, any vacation leave in excess of the 70 day limit will be lost after December 31st of each calendar year.

 

Vacation time must be requested and approved at least 24 hours in advance.  Employees earn vacation leave as follows:

 

DC 33 Employees

 

Service Years Vacation Days Earned
1 to 5 years of service 10 days per year
6 to 10 years of service 15 days per year
11 to 20 years of service 20 days per year
Over 20 years of service 25 days per year

 

DC 47 and Non Represented Employees

 

Service Years Vacation Days Earned
1 to 5 years of service 10 days per year
6 to 10 years of service 15 days per year
11 to 16 years of service 20 days per year
Over 16 years of service 21 days per year
Over 17 years of service 22 days per year
Over 18 years of service 23 days per year
Over 19 years of service 24 days per year
Over 20 years of service 25 days per year
