EMPLOYEE ORIENTATION MANUAL
Standards of Conduct
In order to maintain conformity in the workplace and to foster a pleasant and professional environment, the Department has developed certain standards of conduct that are applicable to all employees in the Recreation Department. Some examples of improper conduct are:
- Absence from work without leave (AWOL).
- Leaving work without permission.
- Chronic tardiness.
- Falsification of time records.
- Sleeping on the job.
- Coming to work while under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs or taking any of these substances during the workday.
- Possession of a weapon on the job, unless required by your position.
- Smoking in restricted areas.
- Violation of the laws and regulations of the City of Philadelphia, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, or the United States of America.
- Disobeying a supervisor's instructions or directions.
- Illegal gambling
- Theft of City owned materials, supplied equipment or scrap.
- Disregard of standard safety requirements and procedures.
- Failing to wear issued work uniforms and protective gear while on the job.
- Fighting.
- Sexual and racial harassment.
- Discrimination based on gender, race, ethnic origin, sexual orientation or religion.
- Threats or threatening behavior.
- Sabotage.
