POOL EQUIPMENT OPERATOR:            Swimming Pools

 

PAY RATE : $10.73/hr

 

TRAINING PERIOD :  To Be Announced

 

HOURS OF OPERATION  :  Varies

 

You will be assigned to work a 40 hour work week.  Your schedule may rotate as our facilities operate on a seven (7) day schedule Monday thru Sunday.  You will be scheduled according to the needs of the facility and your days off will vary.

 

DUTIES:        This is routine work maintaining the proper chlorine and pH levels in

Philadelphia Department of Recreation swimming pools.  Employees are responsible

for the operation of the chlorination and filtration systems.  Work is performed under the

supervision of a skilled tradesman.  Assignments are limited in nature and are performed

in accordance with detailed instructions.  Work requires light physical effort and potential

contact with dangerous chemicals.  Employee must operate filter pumps, test water to

determine the amount of chemical to add to the water, observe machine gauges to ensure

water and chlorine are being mixed at fed according to prescribed proportions and make

adjustments as necessary; open and close water valves as necessary; backwash filters to

clean the system; keep work area clear of unauthorized personnel; remove metal grates

and clean gutter lines; complete daily and weekly reports; display proper identification;

perform related duties as required.

 

 

REQUIREMENTS: Must be 18 years of age.  Ability to physically perform the duties and to work in the environmental conditions required of a position in this class.  Must be a resident of the City of Philadelphia for one (1) year prior to employment and must have the ability to vacuum filtered pools.
