ELLEN HARVEY AND JAN BARACZ SELECTED FOR THE PHILADELPHIA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, TERMINAL F HUB EXPANSION PERCENT FOR ART
New York based artist team, Ellen Harvey and Jan Baracz, have been selected to create a site-specific artwork for the glass curtain wall above Terminal F Hub's entrance canopy. Harvey and Baracz have proposed "You Are Here", a panoramic aerial view of the Delaware River as it runs through Philadelphia, rendered in blue glass. Read the press release.

CARL MARIN SELECTED FOR STURGIS PLAYGROUND PERCENT FOR ART
Local Philadelphia artist, Carl Marin, has been selected to create an outdoor installation for the East Oak Lane playground. The renovation of the Sturgis Recreation facility is a Department of Parks and Recreation project. Marin will create a 70 foot long steel art fence that will intermittently depict images of deer grazing in the fields surrounding the playground. As one walks or drives past the fence, the deer images become activated. Read the press release.


TRISTIN LOWE
SELECTED FOR SWAT/ BDU/ K-9 FACILITY PERCENT FOR ART
Acclaimed multi-disciplinary artist and long-time Philadelphian, Tristin Lowe, has been selected to create an indoor sculpture for the SWAT/BDU/K-9 facility. The new state-of-the-art facility will provide training and services to the local, national and international Special Forces police community. Lowe has proposed to create a large blue neon sculpture in the form of a shooting star or comet, that will hang from the ceiling in the new facility. Read the press release.


AVA BLITZ AND BEN VOLTA SELECTED FOR THE PHILADELPHIA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, B-C RENOVATIONS PERCENT FOR ART
Local artists Ava Blitz and Ben Volta each have been selected to create large-scale two-dimensional artworks for the Philadelphia International Airport Restroom Renovation project. Both artists will be installing their work on the exterior walls of two separately located restrooms. Read the press release.


BEN VOLTA SELECTED FOR PLEASANT PLAYGROUND PERCENT FOR ART
Pleasant Playground will be receiving improvements which include a new recreation center facility, allowing year-round use of the Mount Airy area playground. Volta's artwork, to be installed along the entire hallway ceiling of the recreation center, will be created in collaboration with students from neighborhood schools. Read the press release.


WARREN HOLZMAN SELECTED FOR HAWTHORNE PARK PERCENT FOR ART
Local Philadelphia artist and metal-smith, Warren Holzman, has been selected to create an outdoor sculpture for Hawthorne Park. The park, to be located at 12th and Catharine in South Philadelphia, is a Department of Parks and Rec project realized in partnership with the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society and the local community. RICHARD TORCHIA AND GREENHOUSE MEDIA SELECTED FOR THE RACE STREET CONNECTOR PERCENT FOR ART
The Connector project is part of the Delaware River Waterfront Corporation's waterfront improvement projects, and serves as a link between the city and the new Race Street Pier Park. Acclaimed artist, curator and long-time Philadelphia resident, Richard Torchia, was selected for the commission. Torchia, in collaboration with Greenhouse Media, has created a large-scale LED video screen that displays live feed images of the river 24 hours a day. This conceptually compelling and poetic work represents the City's first technology-based Percent for Art commission. Read the press release.


SUIKANG ZHAO SELECTED FOR ENGINE 38 PERCENT FOR ART
Internationally- renowned artist, Suikang Zhao, will create an outdoor sculptural installation for the new fire station, to be located within Disston Park in the Tacony neighborhood of Philadelphia. Zhao engaged the community and fire department to inform the content of the work. Read the press release.


NATIONAL ENDOWMENT FOR THE ARTS ANNOUNCES GRANT TO THE OFFICE OF ARTS, CULTURE AND THE CREATIVE ECONOMY

The Office of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy is pleased to announce that it has been recommended for a NEA grant of $35,000 to support the restoration and reinstallation of Rafael Ferrer's El Gran Teatro de la Luna in Fairhill Square park at 5th and Lehigh Streets. Read the press release


LEROY JOHNSON AND SARAH MCENEANEY SELECTED FOR THE NEW PHILADELPHIA YOUTH CENTER PERCENT FOR ART PROJECT
Artists Leroy Johnson and Sarah McEneaney, both long-term residents of Philadelphia, have been chosen to create site-specific paintings for the Philadelphia Youth Center. The new Youth Center, to be located at 48th Street and Haverford Avenue in West Philadelphia, is a state-of-the-art facility with LEED certification. Read the press release.
