RICHARD TORCHIA WITH GREENHOUSE MEDIA SELECTED FOR THE RACE STREET CONNECTOR PERCENT FOR ART
The Connector project is part of the Delaware River Waterfront Corporation's waterfront improvement projects, and serves as a link between the city and the the new Race Street Pier Park. Acclaimed artist, curator and long-time Philadelphia resident, Richard Torchia, was selected for the commission. Torchia, in collaboration with Greenhouse Media, has created a large-scale LED video screen that displays live feed images of the river 24 hours a day. This conceptually compelling and poetic work represents the City's first technology-based Percent for Art commission. Read press release.

The City of Philadelphia's Percent for Art Program and the Philadelphia International Airport Exhibitions Program are pleased to announce the completion of a new public artwork in conjunction with the Terminal D-E Expansion and Modernization Project. At a ribbon-cutting ceremony on February 16th, the artist Mei-ling Hom joined Mayor Nutter and other dignitaries to officially dedicate Cloud Sphere in conjunction with the opening of the new Terminal E Hammerhead area of the Airport.

Gathering Contours: Rural and Gathering Contours: Urban Elizabeth Billings and Andrea Wasserman
The City of Philadelphia Percent for Art Program and the Philadelphia International Airport Exhibitions Program commissioned Gathering Contours: Rural and Gathering Contours: Urban in conjunction with the Terminal D - E Expansion and Modernization Project. The artists, Elizabeth Billings and Andrea Wasserman, both of Tunbridge, Vermont, completed their project in December 2008 prior to the opening of this new addition to the terminals.
