The memorial sculpture Kopernick honors Nicolaus Copernicus (1473-1543), who laid the foundations of modern astronomy. The sculpture represents Copernicus's belief that the earth rotates on its axis and revolves around the sun. The 16-ft stainless steel circle is the artist's representation of this concept with the circular form in the center representing the location of the sun. Organizational gift, Polish-Americans of Philadelphia.
