Mission Statement:
Philadelphia's City Charter mandates that the Department of
Public Property's Communications Division provide communications-related
services to all City government departments and agencies,
including:
- radio system design
- operation and maintenance
- special event coordination involving public address
systems, electrical power and a variety of telephone system
set-ups

Administration
The Communications Division has a Division Director, an Assistant Director and an Administrative Officer.
Their responsibilities include:

providing administrative support for Division Review and processing invoices from vendors.

administering and maintaining over 1,600 cellular phones.

providing technical and administrative support to the Police and
Fire 911 systems.

providing project management for major projects.
-
working with the Mayor's Office of Information Services (MOIS) to manage the City's wide area data network, Citynet.

Radio Maintenance and Special Services
Manager: Mike Burger
Involved in the maintenance and repair of the City's radio and CCTV system,
sound system and electrical set ups for special events, tree lighting and
holiday decorations, hanging of flags and banners, and the repair and
installation of mobile radios.

Maintains the Citywide radio system for the Police, Fire and
Municipal agencies.

Installs and repairs over 5,000 radio and siren devices per year.

Supports the Police 911 center and the CCTV Police system.

Provides public address and electrical services during the special events
hosted by the City and public events.

Municipal Switchboard & Radio
Main Switchboard: 215-686-1776
Dispatches all routine and emergency radio calls for all non-public safety
department/agencies, processes emergency notifications and alarm calls.
Processes over 1.6 million calls per year to the City's main telephone number
215-686-1776, establishes VIP conference calls, and participates in emergency
notification process.

Provides a 24X7 main call center for the City.

Handles over 1,250,000 incoming calls per year.

Dispatches over 250,000 jobs per year to various departments, agencies, and
public safety units.

Provides emergency contact and coordination services.

Monitors City burglar, fire, and water alarms.

Coordinates and monitors the serving of warrants with the Sheriff's office.

Provides enhanced radio communications for Emergency Management and Emergency Operations Center
