Bob Murray is the Deputy Commissioner of the Facilities Management Division for the Department of Public Property. This division is responsible for overseeing, operating, servicing as well as maintaining over 4,000,000 square feet of City owned buildings. Facilities Management responsibilities include City Hall, all Philadelphia Police Department Facilities, and all Philadelphia Fire Department Facilities.
Before joining Public Property, Bob held various positions in the City of Philadelphia's Department of Licenses and Inspections for a period of over 11 years. In his latest position, he served as the City's Chief Code Engineer and Permit Services Manager in Licenses and Inspections. In this position, he oversaw the permitting process for Zoning, Building, and Mechanical permits and was responsible for ensuring the City was in compliance with the statewide Uniform Construction Code.
Bob has also worked for the Streets Department for two years as a Bridge Engineer and was involved in a number of interesting bridge projects throughout the City. Before joining the Streets Department, he worked for the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission for three years and was involved in numerous projects aimed at improving the regional transportation network.

The divisions major goals include reducing overall energy costs in City facilities, reducing labor and material costs, improving customer service levels and response times, implementing green building and sustainability strategies, and improving the preventative maintenance program.
Bob graduated from Drexel University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering and is a registered Professional Engineer with the State of Pennsylvania. He also holds numerous certifications from the State of Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry and the International Code Council including: Commercial Building and Mechanical Plans Examiner, Commercial Building and Mechanical Inspector, Accessibility Plans Examiner and Inspector, Commercial Energy Plans Examiner, and Building Code Official.
Bob resides in the Tacony Section of Philadelphia, where he was born and raised. In his spare time he serves as an adjunct instructor in Drexel University's Construction Management Program. | |
