This commission has ceased to function.

Agency History
On 6 March 1945, Mayor Bernard Samuel created the Philadelphia Water Commission and assigned it the tasks of studying the question of improving the present source of the supply of drinking water and to study the sources of water supply outside the City and recommend the sources which would best serve the City's needs. The Water Commission submitted its final report to the Mayor and City Council in November 1946.
