The Tri-Institutional Facilities was a joint project between the City through the Philadelphia General Hospital (PGH), Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP) and Children's Hospital (CHOP) to build facilities in West Philadelphia adjacent to PGH and HUP. The joint facilities were to include a nurse's residence, nursing education building, laundry, apartment house, and parking garage. Only the Nursing Education Building and Laundry were constructed before dissolution of agreement in 1978 following closure of PGH. Files include memorandum of understanding, minutes of the board of directors of the Tri-Institutional Facilities, Inc., architects' proposals and reports, correspondence and memos, and financial papers. The latter include paid bills, canceled checks, audits, and other financial documents.
