- Agency History
- The Mayor's Traffic Safety Committee was appointed by Mayor Bernard Samuel on 29 April 1947 in order to develop safety educational programs and coordinate the efforts of many city and civic agencies to combat the rising trend of accident fatalities. The Committee was replaced in 1948 with the establishment of the Philadelphia Highway Traffic Board.
