From Olde Philadelphia Passyunk Ave South Street 54th Street Frankford Ave or many others, Big Box stores can not offer the same personal attention and business styles that shopkeepers provide. This makes Phlly a great place to shop!

I love Philadelphia's commitment to sustainability. It has a positive effect on my everyday life in ways that you can't find in other cities. Everyday I can safetly ride my bike to work in our bike lanes. Everyweek I get the opportunity to buy local produce at one of the many farmers markets in the city. Also, by the city investing in the big belly trash cans I have already noticed a reduction in litter.

I grew up in the area and retreated to the west for many years but Philly will always be my favorite city. Even though New York City is bigger it can't compete with the friendliness and genuine passion of Philadelphia folk. We are rabid fans, voracious eaters, support the fine arts and have some of the most spectacular parks in the country. I love Philly and even though I may travel I always return and fall in love again with the city!

Philadelphia is home to a plethora of diverse people, communities, cultural and historical organizations and fine educational institutions that have all contributed and integrated their ideas to build a future for the city and its people that thrives, while honoring its unique role and place in our nation’s past. It is home to the generations that have come before us, whether it is by our familial ties, or by our notable historical ancestors or modern figures such as Benjamin Franklin and Lucretia Mott, Margaret Mead the anthropologist and Chris Matthews who have made a mark or place in our hearts and is home to the younger and older generations. It is a place that is never anachronistic or archaic; instead, it is a city whose places and people to see are dynamic. Philadelphia—The City of Brotherly Love is a city and place that evokes feelings and strong impressions in me. As a young girl, I remember our family trips to the Art Museum. On our way there, we would pass by Boat House Row and I would watch the rowers on the Schuylkill River from East Kelly Drive on a pleasant spring day. At the museum, there was always an array of favorite museum collections such as the armor collection and the impressive Cezanne exhibit.

And who could forget wanting to run up and down the famous “Rocky” steps as it overlooked Eakins Oval? Several times during my elementary school years as part of a class field trip we would see and hear history come alive with an educational talk or character portrayal of a Revolutionary figure as we stood in front of Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell, the Betsy Ross house, Elfreth’s Alley, or the visit to the poet Edgar Allen Poe’s house in seventh grade. Oftentimes, these areas are very scenic during the Autumn season.

As I have grown older, I have created more memories through closer connections to the landscape, places and people in Philadelphia. I love the Avenue of the Arts where in the evening I can attend the Walnut Street Theater to watch the talented camaderie of actors and actresses and musicians perform in one of the crowd-pleasing, inspiring, and thrilling dramatic or comedic plays or musicals like “Les Miserables” or “Hairspray.” Here, I forget for some time the routines of the day and I join in the cheers of the triumph of the human spirit or am moved to compassion or sometimes tears which great art does for you. I have eaten a ciabatta sandwich, ordered a refreshing strawberry-banana smoothie and a decent-sized chocolate chip cookie at Reading Terminal Market, designed to be a creative network of independent markets providing Philadelphia’s best selection of flavors and varieties. A night out in the city of Philadelphia could be done at one of the nightlife attractions—enjoying a dinner from one of the rich diversity of ethnic and gastronomical restaurants, or a great pub like Plough and the Stars where on Fridays the Irish dancers perform amidst the jovial and good –spirited and friendly crowds. I felt the atmosphere was great and the music made me just want to dance—which I did. There is no doubt that there is plenty to do here in Philadelphia whatever your age or interests are.

And of course, who could leave out our sports teams like our beloved champions the Fightin’ Phils, or the Eagles or Flyers? We love our teams no matter what. On a more serious note, our city has some of the finest educational institutions in the nation. Some of the brightest and most talented persons attend these city colleges and universities— the Community College of Philadelphia, Drexel, University of Pennsylvania, Temple to name a few.

Perhaps the most welcoming attraction of Philadelphia is ironically, not an attraction. It’s the people. The people here are welcoming and friendly and want you to make Philadelphia your home. In addition, Philadelphia is proud to be diverse in its communities whether by ethnic or religious ties and we have places and spaces to honor this diversity such as Chinatown and the African-American Museum and the Quaker meeting house museum each with its own history.

Philadelphia- from the past to the present, has a historical, ethnic and cultural richness that makes the city who we are. Its people are connected to Philadelphia by a love and loyalty to it. I am so fortunate to have grown up to be part of this historical heritage and to be connected to the places, spaces, and people of the City of Brotherly Love.

I love Philadelphia because as a single mother it was a great place to raise a child. My neighborhood was safe and clean, the neighbors were supportive and close-knit, the schools were great, and culture and history were always right around the corner. Cost of living was low-quality of life was high. That's a combination that you can not find in many major cities! I love Philadelphia!

Although Philadelphia isn't typically associated with romance and love like Paris or Venice, they don't call it the City of Brotherly Love for nothing! Philadelphia should be considered one of the most romantic cities, especially in the U.S.!

My fiance and I fell in love here, and we make it a priority to spend every Friday night in the city of Philadelphia. Most of the time, we don't have a plan or agenda; we'll just walk around the city and be spontaneous on what the night will bring. Although it is a treat to have a reservation in place at the newest Starr restaurant or tickets to a show or event, there's something magical about Philadelphia, especially when sun sets and the lights come on.

Philadelphia will always hold a special place in our hearts, and for the couples looking for that extra spark, they should simply try walking around the city, with no plans, and just anticipate what the night may bring.

Philadelphia has a lot to offer. The stores, resturants, are open day or night to satisfy my taste buds, even if it is late at night. The various parks are open throughout the city for relaxing and looking at nature.West river and east river drive is a nice place to walk and think. The houses and apts are unique and varied in style and design. There are various small cities withing Philly that can be experienced, such as chinatown. The Historic tours are fun and educational. Philadelphia is fun, educational and beautiful with alot to offer see and do.

There is no other City like Philadelphia! Philadelphia's deep historical signifcance and its rich cultural environment make it a wonderful place to live and work. Walking where our forefathers walked and visiting all of the City's "firsts." is a rewarding experience. Philadelphia has history, culture, great restaurants and wonderful entertainment and sports venues. It has the ambiance of an historic, culturally significant European city, with the loyalty and sports enthusiam of an All-American small town. I love Philadelphia!

Where to begin. Well my wife and I are from Florida and we visit at least once a year. We love Philadelphia because of its history, the significant history of our country that it holds. We love the mix of culture found in the art, entertainment and food of the city. We love rowing and Philly is a mecca for rowing. We love the NJ shore being nearby. Hiking and every other outdoor adventure found within a few steps to a few miles from the city. We want to make Philadelphia our home someday and we want to be part of the goals of being the greeniest city in the country and restoring historical sites throughout the city and neighboring towns. Thanks Philly!
Stacie Gaskin - 5/18/10 Winner
Prize: Philadelphia Parking Authority (PPA) - $5 Smart Card

I love Philadelphia because it truly is the City of Brotherly/Sisterly Love. I have lived in Philly all my life and can say no matter where I am in Philly that Brotherly/Sisterly Love is always present. There has never been a time I needed ten cent or help fixing a flat that my fellow Philadelphians haven't come to my aid. True enough, we can be just as tough as New Yorkers, but we have a much softer side that is not always acknowledged in the News. I love you Philly just because you don't have to be rich to enjoy you with your many free attractions at Penn's Landing), magnificent museums like the Art Musuem, and your beautiful parks like Love Park, which is in the center of the city. Need I say more? No, but I can go on and on about why I love Philly. The bottom line is I'm not only love Philly I'm in Love with Philly.
Elizabeth Burton - 5/19/10 Winner
Prize: Dante & Luigi's - $50 Gift Certificate

The City of Philadelphia has been my home all of my life. We should be so proud of such a great city. We have the nation's oldest zoo, which was chartered in 1859, although because of the impending Civil War, it was not open until 1874. Independence Hall, which was originally called the Pennsylvania State House is the home of the Declaration of Independence. Why do you think this city is called "The City of Brotherly Love"? We didn't get that name for nothing. We have educational institutions that are well known, such as Temple University, where we had the largest graduating class in its history this year and I'm proud to say that I work there. Our own Bill Cosby is one of the graduates, who later went on to be one of the most popular people on television. We also have the University of Pennsylvania. That institution is rated one of the best. Philadelphia is considered the birthplace of America. We have a street in Philadelphia that is the oldest residential street in America. The name is Elfreth's Alley. Christ Church and Burial Ground, founded in 1695, is where America's leaders worshipped and some were buried. I could go on and on listing all of the good things about Philadelphia. I even went to the oldest Catholic girls high school in the country, which is John W. Hallahan, also in the City of Philadelphia. I received the best education while being there for four years. My mother also attended the same school. I am confident that I should be one of the winners in this contest. No one loves this city more than I do. I never had a desire to live anywhere else. I want to wish everyone the best of luck with their entries in this contest and I will stay positive and hope to win! Thanks for the opportunity and remember we are the luckiest people in America.

Italian comfort foods of South Philadelphia both invented in America or prepared in old world style. They are the greatest. Top that off with bread and pastry bakeries that compare to none in the region. When I think of Philly, I think Italian food.

Having lived in six cities of the United States, three in Europe, and three in South America, I have a lot to compare. Its urban flair and neighborhood flavor makes Philadelphia a match for even the best of cities worldwide. Its location affords access to a hub of diverse professional, cultural, socioeconomic, media, burgeoning and established iconic trends. Creativity is the heartbeat of the city. Its history is unique. Its potential unlimited. Its statement offers no excuse. Philadelphia IS what it is! Like a woman you think you know suddenly it puts on a new face and changes its style. Philadelphia. My kinda town!

Prize: Supper - $50 Gift Card

I love Philadelphia because I grew up there. It has so many great attractions, including the Franklin Institute, The Art Museum and the Zoo. Class trips were amazing because you didn't have to travel far to experience other countries and cultures in the many museums. You could even go back in time by visiting the Betsy Ross House and the Liberty Bell. When I did actually travel it was easy to fly out of Philly International and get to anywhere in the world. You could even ride Septa to get to the airport to begin your journey. Coming back home a ride on the Schuylkill Expressway would take me pass boathouse row and seeing the houses lit up would remind me that I was home. A quick ride down Kelly Drive was the final step in my return. Even though I don't live there anymore Philly will always be home to me.

I was born in this wonderful city, 55years ago and always lived in North philadelphia, with my parents and siblings. I went to school here and always enjoyed the different neighborhoods that Philly has. It seems like we have a little bit of everything, the shops, restaurants entertainment and various businesses. You come to Philly and you have the soft pretzels and tastykake, things that are known nationwide. Philly has such a diverse population, we have Latinos, African-Americans, polish, Germans, you name it and there is a part in the city for each and every nationality. Where else could you have such diversity? Only in Philly. We have all the Historical buildings in center city. I love Philly because of its people, we are one of a kind, and we are the best. We live for Philly and Philly lives for us, that's why I love Philadelphia, there is no other place like it.

Just this past Mother's Day weekend, I drove my mother & aunt through West Philly looking for the Old Cathedral Cemetary. I felt like I was on a tour, as they both pointed out familiar areas they shared growing up. What a beautiful cemetary - gorgeous monuments that are so old. My family, some I never met, are buried there. We stopped at a vintage thrift shop that had so much of Philadelphia history inside. I love Philadelphia because I work there, having access to public transportation via regional rail, subway, bus and tolleys and my son is a freshman in college in Philadelphia - who could ask for anything more!

I love Philadelphia for its culture and ethnic diversity. You only have to go a short distance to experience the foods and culture of so many different people. Walking the market on 9th street or now visiting the new farmers market in Northern Liberties, the choices are endless. They are also growing as you see whole neighborhoods transform.

Philly is a city of different neighborhoods with a very diverse and unique flavor. Philly offers it all great theaters, musuems and churchs. It's always something to do no matter how much money you have .You can dress up or just hangout we have it all. The bike trails in the parks and all the sporting events from the pro's to the pee wee's. It's more excitement in rittenhouse park at noon then many suburb carnivals. Prize: Reading Terminal Market - Two $5 Gift Certificates

As a native to Newark, Delaware (born and raised) I understand what it is like to live in a fairly small town. Up until 16 years old, I had never seen a corner store. In 2004 I decided that I wanted to shake the small town blues and move to Philadelphia to attend college at the Art Institute. While walking around the city I discovered its style, its charm. The parks in the middle of city blocks, first fridays, the exquisite architecture of suburban station, and the saxaphone players on walnut street all wooed me into a deep love for the city. I found myself drawing city scapes at coffee shops and ejoying the diversity of the many festivals held here. A few years later I joined City Year as a corps member and spent more time galavanting the city's corridors and cleaning its alley ways. In doing so I've decided that Philadelphia is the place for me. There is no other city where they have more murals, phillies games, or cheesestake arguments. Pats or Genos? I say Maxx's! Not to mention Septa runs all night. A feet never heard of in Delaware.

The one and big reason I love Philadelphia is because of its diverse population, I come to appreciate that after being in the mid west for 2 years.I have traveled to many cities and countries but when I come to philly I know I am at home. The city is not hectic and full of rushing people like NY. It has this medium momentum where things are chill. Some of the places I enjoy the most are Kelly Drive!!!, south street, old city and of course City Hall especially during Christmas. Philly is a place like no other.

My family and I have been visiting Philadelphia just about every Saturday for the past ten years now. We wake up early in the morning and drive to Center City from Delaware, where we live (although if it were up to us we’d live in Philadelphia). We like seeing all the sights the city has to offer, and enjoy going to restaurants, museums, galleries, festivals, and other cultural events. Our favorite part of the city is the Reading Terminal Market. We always start our day there at the Dutch Eating Place for a hearty breakfast (I am a big fan of their pancakes) and then walk around the market and do some shopping…and talking. While the food at Reading Terminal is great, the best thing about the Market is the people. We have gotten to know many of the merchants there over the years and they have become like an extended family to us. We always "check in" with the same people week in and week out, and it’s not unusual for us to spend two hours in the Market talking to people about what we are doing that day or about different things that are going on in our lives. Then it’s off to see the city, where a never-ending variety of activities awaits us. At the end of the day, we always stop back at Reading Terminal to gather our purchases, pick up some dinner, and wish our friends well until we see them the next Saturday.

What's not to love about Philadelphia?!
  • Breathtaking views while running/biking the Schuylkill River Trail
  • Distinct, lively neighborhoods that offer different experiences for just about anyone
  • FOOD - pizza from Lorenzo & Sons, cheesesteaks from Pat's, homemade ice cream from Reading Terminal, dim sum from Chinatown, and much, much more!
  • World-class institutions (took cello lessons at Curtis during high school, went to Penn for college)
  • Broadway season - no need to go to NYC
  • Brunch, brunch, and more brunch
  • Met my future wife in Philadelphia more than ten years ago, proposed three weeks ago, and hope to get married and move into the city next year!

I love that Philly seamlessly blends its extensive history with its modern design. Our Olde City, where the founders of this country worked and played some 200 years ago, is the hippest spot in town for the nations next great leaders. Yeah, that's pretty cool.

I love Philadelphia because of its history and its neighborhoods. I love thinking about what the trees and leaves in the Wissahickon have seen, from the Lenni Lenape to German settlers to those of us who hike and bike there today. I love walking between Spruce and South and thinking about the men and women DuBois encountered as he researched The Philadelphia Negro. Did any of the women he met ride with the Stars of Hope - the cycling club just for black women in the 1890s - and did any of the men swim at the Christian Street YMCA?

I love the vibrant green of the trees in Clark Park that seem to glow against grey skies on rainy days. I love the African drum circle that gives rhythm to the park on warm evenings. I love to see the kids with swords and shields acting out medieval fantasies amidst the trees, and the boys and girls playing soccer in the summer and sledding in the winter in the Bowl. The farmer's markets and flea markets bring out the community and I run into neighbors, friends and former classmates.

I love walking past the Victorian homes all throughout West Philadelphia and when I ride the trolley past, I wonder if this is how it felt to live here when the neighborhood was a streetcar suburb. And what did Clark Park's trees see when the area was Satterlee Hospital and wounded Civil War soldiers walked on its soil? What can the Woodlands tell about the patients of Blockley Almshouse? And what stories do these streets know of the old lanes and roads they are built upon, of the travelers who walked and rode along looking for freedom, wealth, goods and a place to call home?

I call this city home and I love it for its present and past. I love it for its stories and the secrets it still has to tell. This is why I love Philadelphia.

Philadelphia is the greatest big small city - one with a real definition of community. No matter where you are in the city, there is not only so much going on but you can easily get to another section. Waling from University City after a movie at the Bridge to South Street for dinner at one of new hot spots is totally doable. It's just so manageable. It's an easy city to feel a sense of community in as well. One recent night out at a bar, we began talking to another couple who I realized were friends of a friend. Only for that mutual friend to show up later. Everywhere you go you seem to know people and your community circle just continues to grow. There's been a real sense of looking out for one another growing as well. People want their neighborhoods and the city overall to really flourish and be taken care of. It shows in the local shops, farmers markets, recycling programs and Clean up Day, and non profit orgs. Philly always feels like home.

Philadelphia shares it's scenic beauty with an array of budding blossoms, lovely Schuylkill Banks full of activity and vigor from the runners, bicyclists and walkers; Strolling and kiting in Fairmount Park; visiting the various museums, entertainment, and eateries; celebrating the sports venues; and the rich historical venues as well. Just having an opportunity to live in Philadelphia where the Nation's First Hospital was established lends itself to a very proud future for Philadelphians. Thank you.

I love Philadelphia because of its people. Never have I met such passionate sports fan, college enthusiasts, or promoters of food than in Philadelphia. Whether I am waiting in line for a cheese steak or riding SEPTA to the baseball park, I can always strike up conversation with someone. Living in Philadelphia gives people a sense of commonality. They are able to relate news stories and discuss last night's game with strangers. Philadelphians have an opinion about anything and those that I have met on the street or the subway have always offered great places to eat, see a show, or go out for the evening. Out of towner’s seem to visit Philadelphia with a sense that people who live in the city are too busy to slow down and talk to them. But, when I was new to Philly that was far from true; Philadelphia has welcomed me with open arms and I'd be glad to do the same thing to a newcomer.

I love Philadelphia because it is HOME! No matter where I travel via car, train, or plane, as I approach the city (especially at night via air) and see the city of lights, I get a warm feeling inside - aah "there is no place like home." Philadelphia has so many wonderful attactions but what I enjoy most about Philly is a wonderful free attraction that has been around as long as the city itself, Fairmount Park! The park spans throughout each neighborhood (Kelly/MLK Drive, FDR Park, Valley Green, Wissahickon, etc.) The fond memories from my childhood at Smith Playground to cherished memories being created with my grandchildren "let's go see the geese grandmother!!" my morning walks and/or quiet moments, the park is a wonderful place and one of several reasons I love Philadelphia.

The Philadelphia Skyline and Boat House Row, the fabulous restaurants and cafes...Oh and I can't forget the food carts along Market, Walnut or Chestnut Street where you can grap a Philly Pretzel, cheese steak or hot dog! Dare I not mention the Italian Market aka 9th Street! Awesome shopping as well as Antique Row, Fabric Row, and Jewelers Row. Philadelphia is the place if you want to learn about American History. Have you not been to William Penns Tower at City Hall? There are so many museums and historical first!!! Hopefully I've painted a vivid picture that will excite the reader as I am excited when I speak about Philly - HOME! Thank you.

Philadelphia is a perfect place for foodies. I love being able to get a sandwich at Paesano's, swing by Supreme Pasta Co to get fresh pasta for my dinner later, and savor a fresh cannoli from Isgro's. We haven't even started talking about Jose Garces, the great low key gastropubs, and the places you can people watch from with a nice breeze and a beer. Philadelphia, the city that I love, lifts my spirits and touches my soul. One of the things I love most is how accessible it is. Septa is one of the most organized, well kept public transit systems I've seen in our entire country. Getting to the city is also a pleasant drive, because even if traffic is slow coming in, the views are well worth the wait! As I approach, I'm greeted by murals and florals decking the bridges. When the Philly Zoo balloon is hovering on the horizon, I'm reminded of their amazing baray of creatures to see. At night, the lights of boathouse row fill me with joy as they glisten off the riverfront. The art museum overlooks the roadways with grandeur, beckoning me to enter and have a look around or stop in for a Friday Jazz soiree.

There's always something to do in Philadelphia, from festivals and concerts, and meals at some of the finest restaurants in the world. I never have to worry about finding somewhere exciting to shop! There are high-energy clubs where I can dance the night away, and quiet parks to take in a pleasant afternoon on a picnic.

Our city is safe, clean, and comfortable, with seemingly unlimited resources of information and support. The streets of the city dazzle me around the holidays, with beautiful decorations hanging from the trees. People in the city are friendly, open, and real. There's a huge amount of diversity and culture to experience. The neighborhoods are easy to navigate and worth getting to know! I love Philadelphia because it's a place I can be proud to call mine; a home away from home. Every time I visit, all I want to do is stay.

I have lived and loved Philadelphia my entire life. I am third generation Center City dweler, as my grandparents came over to this country in the early 1900's and settled in Center City.Yes, I have traveled and visited many places, but I must admit it's always good to come home to my beloved Philly! I was born and raised in Center City and have always appreciated the convenience of city life. I love being close to the theaters, museums, restaurants, and all that this wonderful city has to offer. I love the history of the city and have taken numerous friends and families who visit to the historical places and each time I love it more and more! I find the people here to be friendly and loving and proud of their city and all that it has to offer! I love the sports teams, and the fan appreciation. In the evening, when the sun goes down or when you step out of a theatre from seeing a show, I look up at the many fascinating buildings in Center City in amazement. On the south side of Broad Street, considered the Arts and Entertainment district, the buildings light up with various colors and as far as you can see, there's a beautiful array of colorful lights. You can take a stroll down Walnut Street or around Rittenhouse Square to see some of the most quaint bistros with sidewalk dining. When I have one of those evenings, it feels like you don't have a care in the world. That's a couple of the many things I love about Philadlephia.

I love that you can't "do" Philadelphia in a day, or a weekend or even a month - there's simply too much to do, see and experience, and just when you think you "know" Philadelphia, it evolves with the seasons and brings you something new. Philadelphia is a city with vibrant history, culture, food, sports, museums, parks, arts, and people. Every day is an adventure in Philadelphia. Depending on my mood, I can stroll South Street and then stop for a cheesesteak, or shop along Walnut and have lunch at an outdoor cafe in Rittenhouse, or catch a Phillies game and a hot dog in the summer, or take in the Flower Show in the spring, or enjoy a 4-star meal at a Starr restaurant, or take in a Broadway show, or enjoy an ice cream cone at the Zoo, or watch the Thanksgiving Day Parade with a cup of hot cocoa, or...the possibilities are endless. No matter what season it is, or what my mood may be, Philadelphia has something to satisfy it. That's why I love Philadelphia.

Prize: Sheraton Philadelphia University City - Overnight Stay

Although I was born here in Philadelphia my family relocated when I was less than 6 moths old. I returned at 19 years old as a 2nd generation American, the first female in my family to attend College. Educated at Temple University & Tyler School of Art with attendance at Philadelphia Community College I chose to "give back" to the City I love I by working hard to help my fellow citizens. I have learned much more about our “Bloomin’” City while holding positions in the Records Department, Water Department, District Attorney's Office, Atwater Kent Philadelphia History Museum and the City Commissioners Office as well as volunteering with the Friends of Pennypack Park. These experiences led an to awakening of a love of everything culturally wonderful about this "Green Country Towne".

I have participated in the Neighborhood Garden contest and have shared bulbs, plants and cuttings with my friends and neighbors. I love that Philly is the home of the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society and one of the largest indoor garden exhibitions. The preservation of open space is possibly my favorite attribute of Philadelphia.

Owing the beginning of "Philadelphia Green" to our first 5 squares laid out in the original plans for our city and with the protection of the water supply by the creation of the Fairmount Park System in 1855 our dedication to “green” now includes 63 parks and more than 9,200 acres of land. Whether a neighborhood pocket park, a carefully manicured golf course, the 4,100 acres of the “Faire mount”; the first park for which the entire system was named, or the totally natural forested area that encompasses recreation areas, walking paths, horse trails, the Pennypack Environmental & Education Center, Fox Chase Farm and spans over 8 miles of the more than 10 mile long Pennypack Creek that cuts through Northeast Philadelphia it's fabulous that the residents of this very urban area are never more than 2.5 miles from open spaces.

I am thrilled that Philadelphia’s park system is on the National Register of Historic Places and includes “bloomin’ ” spaces that all started from the Lemon Hill estate near Boat House Row. Bartrum’s Gardens, (America’s oldest botanical garden), as well as the Azalea gardens at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, America’s first Zoo and a huge collection of Public Art enhances the “bloomin’ ” experience in Philadelphia’s park system, too. I could go on & on describing the reasons I love Bloomin’ Philadelphia but experience is the best teacher. I encourage everyone to go out and love the Green Country Towne that is Philadelphia.

I first fell in love with Philly in 1964 as a college student during my first spring here. As flowering tree after tree, and bloom after bloom unfurled, I was amazed at such an abundance of beauty, and a spring that lasted for three months. Since that long ago spring, I see not only the physical beauty of the city, but the beauty of our people. As I move through the city and see friends I have made in all walks of life over the years, the strength and spirit of our city, the beauty of our diversity, the passionate commitment to the city -- these things all inspire me. Philadelphia is like a series of small towns, all bound together into one large, vibrant, exciting city. The longer you live here, the more small towns you encounter as your friends bring you into their circle. I would never live anywhere else.

I like the convenience of walking or taking transportation to the surrounding areas such as the malls, clubs/lounges, restaurants including fine dining, parks, theaters, and sporting events, You can visit Penns Landing where they have many social events and entertainment during the summer or take a stroll down South Street - - a small village in its self for lots of entertainment, shopping, and eating through-out the year. You can easily access routes 76, I95, the Pratt Bridge, Walt Whitman and Betsy Ross bridges. It's a great city, with a great view and lots of things to do.

I love Philadelphia, because it's a state of mind. It's a city that no matter where you go, we have been heard of. Philadelphia (PA) is foreign to no one. Most often everyone wants to know about our famous cheese steaks, however Philadelphians are the best. We are passionate about everything and you know where we stand. We may have separate neighborhoods, but when it comes to our sports, we are one. I love telling people I'm from Philly. I love giving directions like I own the place. Philadelphia grows, expands, fights, kisses and makes up with the citizens over and over again. Most who move out always come back to visit; you can leave Philly, but Philly never leaves you. I love all that we have to offer in terms of our growth and attitude. Philadelphia is the place to be and I love it!

Philly is iconic; the site of some of the most pivotal and historic events in our countries history. Philly is dynamic; can be a hustling and bustling Metropolis, or a serene and peaceful countryside. Philly is original; the home of some of the most talked about foods, style, luxury. Philly is picturesque; beautiful landmarks, parks and murals shower our city. Philly is accessible; from within with SEPTA and easy navigable roads or from without, just a short drive from NYC and Washington DC. Philly is love. Don't you love your city too?

Philly is the home of passion...its inhabitants feel and embrace life without hesitation leaving you feel the energy and heartbeat of the city in every encounter. Whether it be a sporting event, a culinary experience, or a cultural endeavor into the arts, Philiadelphia offers an opportunity to truly "feel" the experience and it becomes a part of you. With spring comes a reawakening of this passion in a profound and fervent way as Philadelphians migrate back to the great outdoors along the streets of Rittenhouse for the food festival, the Italian Market, and Penns Landing concerts the energy is palpable! To say I love Philadelphia is an understatement...I am Philadelphia!

I love Philly because of all of its history, as well as its unique neighborhoods. I love heading to the city and visiting Ben Franklin's grave, and Betsy Ross' House, the Liberty Bell, and many more historical attractions. I also love being able to head into South Philly and go to the Italian Market, or North Philly for ethnic food shopping, like homemade perogi's, or latin food markets. Every neighborhood has its own identity, and each has its reasons to visit. There is no greater city in the US, not too big, not too small, and ethnically as diverse as any in the country, plus the greatest history in our nation.

I am a Philadelphian. I was born in Jefferson Hospital sixty years ago, it was a great hospital then and still a great hospital today. Philadelphia has marvelous tour sites and museums, it enhances culture all over the world. I have family members who have moved from Philadelphia and really can not stay away, because of the famous hoagies and steaks. The love you receive in the City of Brotherly Love and Sisterly Affection is phenomenal. I am so proud to be a Philadelphian, you should try it.

Philadelphia is an ideal city for a runner such as myself. We've got great running paths like the Schuykill and Wissahickon trails around the city, plus areas like Valley Forge are not too far away. I love that I can run races to support loval running organizations like Student Run Philly Style and Back On My Feet. Running to raise miney so other people can run? Sign me up! I've also had a blast participating in big races like the Philadelphia Distance Run and the Philadelphia Half Marathon. I love that these races take runners all over the city--Old City, South Street, Manayunk, University City, etc. What a great way to show off Philadelphia! Plus, I got a high five from someone dressed up as the Liberty Bell. What could be more encouraging than THAT!

Philadelphia is such a green town with local parks and street trees, and our Ben Franklin Parkway, and Roosevelt Blvd. Granted there is room for improvement but programs exist for neighbors to clean-up, fix-up and green up their properties and blocks.

Prize: Philadelphia Center for Architecture - (2) Tickets to the "Modern Philadelphia" Walking Tour

I am an avid music lover and would come into the city often to listen to local bands. As time passed I would see the same familiar faces in the crowds. So much so that I gained a lot of friends through the music community. The thing that has been so wonderful about this city is that it is so large, yet so small at the same time. I decided to move here about 4 years ago and I truly love it. Everything from WXPN to the Tin Angel, to First Friday, to Art after five, to Fairmount Park, to film fests, to the Wissahickon, to the beautiful murals, and most of all, the people. It’s all what gives Philadelphia it’s uniqueness and I love it all.

I love Philadelphia because I love living in such a historic place. I made sure my son visited all our historic sites here when he was small. I'm in a customer service field and speak with many people all abroud daily via telephone; When I indicate that I live and work in Philadelphia, everyone is so amazed because of our history. I am so proud to live so close to the Liberty Bell, Betsy Ross House, Independence hall, & the place where the Declaration of Independence was signed. Therefore I am proud to be a Philadelphian.

I love Philly because it is an eclectic melting pot of activity. There is always something going on. Whether it be the arts, sporting events, the great food, shopping, or culture, Philly has so much to offer. Another great thing about this city is that everything is within walking distance or can be accessed through our wonderful public transportation system. I have lived in Philadelphia all my life and I must say the number one reason this city is great is because of the people that make it up. We are very prideful and hardworking yet very welcoming. We are a family. This was evident when the Phillies won the 2008 World Series. Philadelphians from all parts of the city hailing from different backgrounds came together to share in something special. This camaraderie is what makes Philly a special place.

I love to walk from University City to Old City. I love the mix of architecture that reflects the history of Philadelphia. I love to mix of people which reflects the city's future. Philadelphia is a place of vibrant modern life layered on top of a distinct historic culture, which make Philadelphia such a unique place. I love the walk along Chestnut Street that takes me from the neighborhoods of West Philly, through student life, to the river, past sacred buildings and classic row homes, to trendy shops and fun hangouts, past offices and commerce and on to the historic sites. I love Philadelphia.
