CHAPTER 10-1200. POSTING OF TEMPORARY SIGNS
§10-1201. Definitions. [204]
(1) Department. The Department of Licenses and Inspections of
the City of Philadelphia.
(2) Event. Any election, rally,
gathering, instructional course, exhibit, show or contest which is to occur on a
specific date or dates, from which the time period for the posting and removal
of temporary signs relating thereto can be calculated with reasonable
precision.
(3) Ground Signs. A sign, poster or placard which is
usually attached to a stick imbedded in the ground, and is self-supporting in
that it is not attached to or secured against any permanent or immobile
structure.
(4) Permanent or Continuous Nature. Any event,
business or service, or the like, which does not begin or terminate on a
specific date or dates, making it impossible to calculate the posting and
removal periods for temporary signs or posters relating thereto, in accordance
with the intent of this Chapter.
(5) Person. Any individual,
corporation, partnership, agent, association, trustee, representative or other
legal entity.
(6) Sticker. Any printed or written matter, sign,
circular or placard which is affixed to a surface by means of glue, paste or
similar permanent-type adhesive, but not including cellophane tape, masking tape
or vinyl strips affixed by non-drying adhesive.
(7) Temporary Sign.
Any sign except a political campaign poster, which is constructed of cloth,
paper, cardboard or any other material other than glass, wood or metal, intended
to be displayed for a short time only, including ground signs, banners,
pennants, advertising flags and poster placards.
(8) Political
Campaign Posters. Any printed or written matter containing the name,
picture, likeness or lever number of any candidate for any office.
