GENERAL DEFINITION

This is full performance welding work repairing, rebuilding, or replacing damaged parts of a wide variety of light and heavy metal structures or equipment. An employee in this class inspects damaged parts of metal structures or equipment to determine work methods and techniques and repairs, rebuilds or replaces metal parts using a variety of welding equipment, tools and machines. Work includes removing damaged metal parts and designing and fabricating replacement parts. An employee in this class may use precision tools and machines in the work.

Work is performed under the direction of a maintenance group leader and involves physical exertion and conditions which can only by partially controlled.
