BRIDGE MAINTENANCE SUPERINTENDENT


GENERAL DEFINITION

This is responsible supervisory and technical work directing a city-wide bridge maintenance and repair program. Directing the activities of a large number of journeymen level tradesmen and other workers through subordinate supervisors is a significant aspect of the work.

Work is performed under the direction of a technical superior. Assignments require evaluative thinking and work is performed in accordance with well defined policies of accepted bridge maintenance standards. The employee in this class has the controlling responsibility for the bridge maintenance and repair programs carried out by city forces. Work involves conditions which may be occasionally hazardous.
