BRIDGE MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR


GENERAL DEFINITION

This is supervisory bridge maintenance work, planning, assigning, and reviewing the work of bridge maintenance workers in the performance of major bridge rehabilitation/maintenance and building repair. Work includes the coordination, implementation and supervision of a comprehensive bridge maintenance and repair training program for bridge workers at the trainee level and for the ongoing skills development of higher level bridge workers. Coordinating the activities of subordinates in order to complete work assignments within established time frames is a significant aspect of the work.

Work involves conditions which can be only partially controlled including but not limited to working at unusual and dangerous heights; working in close proximity to high voltage lines; working in inclement conditions; and, performing work that may require strenuous physical effort. Work is performed under the general supervision of a technical superior.
