BRIDGE MAINTENANCE WORKER II


GENERAL DEFINITION

This is bridge maintenance work at the advanced level performing major bridge rehabilitation/maintenance and building repair on the City's bridge system. An employee in this class demonstrates skills, as required, and assists in the training of trainee level bridge maintenance employees. This class is differentiated from lower level classes in the series by the complexity of assignments and concentration on advanced electrical, mechanical or welding related maintenance projects. The maintenance and repair of mechanical and electrical systems on moveable bridges are significant aspects of the work.

Work involves conditions which can be only partially controlled including but not limited to working at unusual and dangerous heights; working in close proximity to high voltage lines; working in inclement conditions; and, performing work requiring strenuous physical effort. Work is performed under the general supervision of a Bridge Maintenance Supervisor.
