General Definition
- This is supervisory Emergency Medical Services (EMS) work commanding several EMS divisions throughout the city. The employee in this class directs, through subordinate Fire Paramedic Services Chiefs, the coordination and deployment of equipment and personnel to emergency scenes, the training of EMT and fire paramedic personnel in accordance with state and departmental regulations, compliance with EMS regulations governing the city/county of Philadelphia and the activities of the EMS Regional Office. Responding to emergency scenes, maintaining command of EMS operations and establishing new policy and procedural changes to paramedic personnel are significant aspects of the work. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Deputy Commissioner of Fire Operations.
Allocating Factors:

- The position must direct, through subordinate Fire Paramedic Services Chiefs, the operations component of the Fire Department EMS program and the administration of the EMS Regional Office.
