YOUTH DETENTION SHIFT MANAGER


GENERAL DEFINITION

This is youth custody and counseling work administering and managing, through subordinate supervisors, the security, counseling and residential care activities of a youth detention facility during an assigned shift. An employee in this class has responsibility for all program and operational activities of the facility in the absence of superiors and insuring that they conform to mandated regulatory and professional standards and policies.

ALLOCATING FACTORS: (The following conditions must be met for a position to be allocated to this class.)

Contact with parents, court representatives, and law enforcement officials is a significant aspect of the work. Work is performed under the direction of an administrative superior.

NOTE:

Pennsylvania Act 33 of 1985 requires State criminal record and central registrar reports prior to appointment to positions in this class having responsibility for direct child care.
