General Definition
- This is airport administrative work directing a comprehensive safety and security program for a large hub international airport. An employee in this class directs all safety and security efforts to ensure the airport meets Transportation Security Administration (TSA) regulations and requirements. The employee is responsible for reviewing and interpreting the impact of all TSA regulations, amendments, and advisories on safety and security activities and making resultant recommendations for revisions to airport security and safety policies and procedures. An employee in this class directs, through subordinate supervisors the operation of the Identification Badge/Access Media office, the Interactive Employee Training Center and results of employment history, verification, and criminal history records checks. The employee serves as a liaison between the airport and the TSA and is responsible for cooperative security efforts among the airport staff and tenants. Work includes coordinating the activities of airport management, emergency, and tenant personnel and extensive contact with federal, state, and local government officials to ensure compliance with TSA regulations concerning airport operations. Work is performed under the direction of the Deputy Director.
