HIRING SERVICES ASSISTANT 1


GENERAL DEFINITION

This is specialized public human resources support work in a hiring team in the City's central human resources agency. In addition to providing general support services and test administration support, employees in this class carry out at least one of the essential support services required for public human resource work, including: scoring of exams and/or certification and management of eligible lists. These employees share their expertise in support services with other team members as required.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE

REQUIRED ABILITIES:

  1. Maintain paper filing or record system; ensures that paper files are current and complete.
  2. Add, retrieve or remove information from paper files or records; categorize information for filing.
  3. Compile information.
  4. Follow instructions to complete assignments.
  5. Process incoming forms, records, or other documents.
  6. Serve as liaison between personnel (inside and outside the agency), users, clients, and customers.
  7. Project a professional attitude and appearance.
  8. Work with others to complete a project.
  9. Operate standard office equipment (for example, telephone, typewriter, fax, photocopier, and calculator).
  10. Use a keyboard to prepare letters or other documents.
  11. Maintain security or confidentiality of records, equipment, or computer access.
  12. Operate a personal computer or computer terminal.
  13. Enter data into computer.
  14. Use a computer or word processor to create, edit, print, retrieve, or manipulate files.
  15. Use addition, subtraction, division, or multiplication.
  16. Use fractions, decimals, percentages, or averages.
  17. Provide information about opportunities, services, resources, or jobs.
  18. Prepare outgoing mail.
  19. Make or receive telephone calls.
  20. Make copies, collate, and/or bind materials.
  21. Use a computer to develop mailing lists or make labels.
  22. Administer tests.
  23. Coordinate with others to accomplish work-related activities.
