CONTINUOUS SELECTION:
Interested candidates may apply in person during business hours, 8:30 AM to 5 PM except Saturdays and Sundays or by mail until further notice. Examinations will be rated in chronological order, and successful candidates will be placed on a consolidated list in the order of their final rating. They will be certified to position vacancies in the order of their standing on the eligible list at the time of certification.


DUTIES:

This is mechanical engineering work at the full performance level applying engineering knowledge to the design and/or installation of mechanical equipment in a variety of public works.

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Presently employed by the City of Philadelphia with permanent Civil Service status as a Mechanical Engineer and a Performance Rating of Satisfactory or higher;

    and

  2. Completion of a bachelor's degree program at an accredited college or university with major course work in mechanical engineering;

    and

  3. Two years of engineering experience in the design or installation of mechanical equipment;

    or

  4. Permanent Status in the proper class and any equivalent combination of education and experience that has included the completion of a bachelor's degree program in an acceptable area of engineering as an educational minimum.


EXAMINATION:

Will be related to the duties of the position and will consist of the following:

ELIGIBLE LISTS:

Departmental and interdepartmental promotional eligible lists will be established as a result of this examination. An appointment in any department may be made from either one of the above-established promotional lists as deemed appropriate by the appointing authority.
