U.S. VETERAN’S PREFERENCE NOTE:
Ten points for veteran’s preference will be added to the scores of eligible veterans who apply for open competitive tests and pass the examination (for concurrent examinations, this applies only to applicants who are not currently employed by the City in a civil service position). DUTIES

This is administrative and operational work at the trainee level, on an assigned shift at a large hub international airport, performing assignments designed to further develop the management skills required to perform a variety of airport management activities. Employees in this class participate in monitoring airfield, terminal, landside operations, security, safety, ground transportation, and other activities related to the welfare of passengers, airlines, tenants and the general public. Assignments vary in nature and increase in difficulty with the objective of the employee advancing to higher-level airport administrative positions. This is shift work and employees are required to work weekends and holidays. Work is performed under the supervision of an administrative superior.

REQUIREMENTS

  1. EDUCATION:
    Completion of a bachelor's degree program from an accredited college or university with major course work in aviation management;

    OR

  2. EDUCATION:
    Completion of a bachelor's degree program from an accredited college or university with major course work in business administration or a related field;;

    AND

  3. EXPERIENCE:
    One year of administrative experience in airport operations or administration.

TRANSCRIPTS
Candidates MUST submit an official copy of their college or university transcript(s) indicating completion of the educational requirement above, at the time of application.

Please note that the Office of Human Resources does not accept internet-generated copies, grade reports or copies of the degree conferred. If you attended an institution located outside the United States, please submit a credit evaluation report from an agency that provides the service.

RESIDENCY WAIVER:
The Civil Service Commission has waived the usual requirement that candidates must be residents of Philadelphia within six (6) months of appointment. Establishment of residency in Philadelphia will be required no later than one (1) year after appointment.

PROJECTED EXAMINATION SCHEDULE

This examination will be given as applicants are approved for assessment. Applicants will be evaluated and scored based upon their training and experience credentials. Applicants will not be asked to appear to take a scheduled examination.

ANTICIPATED ELIGIBLITY
College students may apply for and take the examination for this class as much as nine months prior to the date of receipt of the bachelor’s degree. However, any candidate doing so will not be eligible for appointment until (s)he has presented evidence of successful completion of the undergraduate coursework.

Only an open competitive eligible list will be established as a result of this examination. Permanent City employees who compete will receive no promotional preference in this examination.
