This is specialized supervisory sanitation, street maintenance and repair or traffic sign work. An employee in this class supervises the work of a highway crew of varying size, several traffic sign or sanitation crews of semi-skilled and/or unskilled personnel engaged in street and highway repair activities, traffic sign maintenance / installation or waste collection and street cleaning operations. Work includes the responsibility for the completion of assigned tasks. An important aspect of the work is the operation of automotive equipment utilized to complete work assignments. Work is performed under the supervision of a technical superior.

The following statement represents the minimum training and experience standards which will be used to admit or reject applicants for tests.  Candidates must meet requirements within 30 days after the last date for filing applications.

1. Presently employed by the City of Philadelphia with permanent Civil Service status in the Streets Department with a Performance Rating of Satisfactory or higher; AND;
   
   
2. EDUCATION
   Education equivalent to completion of the twelfth school grade; AND;
   
   
3. EXPERIENCE
   Three years of experience as a member of a street repair crew performing semi-skilled tasks pertinent to the maintenance and repair of city streets and highways;
   
   

Or any equivalent combination of acceptable training and experience.

PHYSICAL AND MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to physically perform the duties and to work in the environmental conditions required of a position in this class.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND/OR CERTIFICATES
Possession of a valid Class B - Commercial Drivers License (CDL) issued by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for all specialties prior to the scheduled examination and during tenure of employment as a Street Crew Chief 2.

EXAMINATION PARTS AND WEIGHTS
Training and Experience Evaluation - 90%
Seniority Rating - 10%

PROJECTED EXAM SCHEDULE
Applicants will be evaluated and scored based upon their training and experience credentials.  Applicants will not be asked to appear to take a scheduled examination.

ELIGIBLE LIST
DEPARTMENT-ONLY PROMOTIONAL. Only a departmental promotional eligible list will be established for the Streets Department as a result of this examination.

An eligible list is planned for the week of September 30, 2009.  Please note that this date may change.

TEST REVIEW
In accordance with Civil Service Regulation 9.091D, candidates may review their answer sheets and other test papers to determine if they have been scored correctly or if there has been an irregularity in the administration of the examination.
