The following statement represents the minimum training and experience standards which will be used to admit or reject applicants for tests. Candidates must meet requirements within 30 days after the last date for filing applications.
- EDUCATION
Completion of a bachelor's degree program with major course work in social work, social services or a related field at an accredited college or university.
NOTE
Related fields include Psychology, Sociology, Education or Criminal Justice.
Candidates must submit a copy of their official college transcript at the time of application.
BILINGUAL SPECIALTY - SPANISH
Sufficient training and/or experience to be able to converse effectively in English and the Spanish language.
NOTE
Pennsylvania Act 33 of 1985 requires state criminal record and central register reports prior to appointment to positions in this class having responsibility for direct child care.
PHYSICAL AND MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to physically perform the duties and to work in the environmental conditions required of a position in this class.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND/OR CERTIFICATES
Possession of a valid proper class motor vehicle operator's license as issued by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania prior to appointment and during tenure of employment as a Social Worker Trainee, if required by work assignment.
RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT
The Civil Service Commission has waived the usual requirement that candidates must be residents of Philadelphia within six (6) months of appointment. Establishment of residency in Philadelphia will be required no later than one (1) year after appointment.
