This is departmental accounting work at the first supervisory level directing and participating in the work of accounting and clerical personnel engaged in recording, adjusting, categorizing, summarizing, and analyzing financial data needed to facilitate financial planning and control by municipal agencies. Employees in this class train subordinates in city-wide and departmental accounting procedures, directives, and guidelines, assign and review the maintenance, adjustment, and analysis of accounting records, and prepare and review statistical compilations of accounting data as well as narrative reports. The work may include responsibility for accounting information system development requisite to departmental operations and management needs. Supervising an accounting and clerical staff is a major aspect of the work. Employees in this class report to a technical or administrative supervisor.
The following statement represents the minimum training and experience standards which will be used to admit or reject applicants for tests. Candidates must meet requirements within 30 days after the last date for filing applications.
- Presently employed by the City of Philadelphia with permanent Civil Service status with a Performance Rating of Satisfactory or higher; AND
Completion of a bachelor's degree program at an accredited college or university with major course work in accounting;AND;
- GENERAL EXPERIENCE
Three years of accounting experience, two years of which have been for a municipal agency at the full performance level.
Or any equivalent combination of education and experience determined to be acceptable by the Office of Human Resources that has included completion of a bachelor's degree as specified above.
PHYSICAL AND MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to physically perform the duties and to work in the environmental conditions required of a position in this class.

This examination will be tentatively scheduled for the week of September 14, 2009. Please note that this examination date is subject to change.
CITY-WIDE PROMOTIONAL: Departmental and interdepartmental promotional eligible lists will be established as a result of this examination. An appointment in any department may be made from either one of the above-established promotional lists as deemed appropriate by the appointing authority.
