This application fee may be waived for individuals who demonstrate an inability to pay because of certain types of financial need.

U.S. VETERAN’S PREFERENCE NOTE:
Ten points for veteran’s preference will be added to the scores of eligible veterans who apply for open competitive tests and pass the examination (for concurrent examinations, this applies only to applicants who are not currently employed by the City in a civil service position). You must be honorably discharged from the U.S. armed forces.  Attach a DD214, member 4, to your application if you wish your eligibility to be reviewed.  Spouses of disabled or deceased veterans may also be considered.



DUTIES

  This is maintenance work, inspecting and making minor repairs to sewers, inlets and related structures. Work is performed in support of the Water Department's sewer maintenance program, and involves very disagreeable conditions, unpredictable hazards and strenuous physical effort.

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. One year of laboring experience;

    AND

  2. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT FOR PROMOTIONAL CANDIDATES:
    Presently employed by the City of Philadelphia with permanent Civil Service status in any class in any department and a Performance Rating of Satisfactory or higher.

NOTE
Work involves very disagreeable conditions, unpredictable hazards and strenuous physical effort.


PROJECTED EXAMINATION SCHEDULE

This examination will be tentatively scheduled the week of July 14, 2008. Please note that this examination date is subject to change.

TEST REVIEW

ELIGIBLE LISTS:

CONCURRENT:
Separate departmental and interdepartmental promotional eligible lists of permanent City employees, and an open competitive eligible list will be established as a result of this examination.  The appointing authority may make an appointment from either one of the promotional lists until these lists are exhausted and, thereafter, may appoint from the open competitive list.
