CONTINUOUS SELECTION:
Interested candidates may apply in person during business hours, 8:30 AM to 5 PM except Saturdays and Sundays or by mail until further notice. Examinations will be rated in chronological order, and successful candidates will be placed on a consolidated list in the order of their final rating. They will be certified to position vacancies in the order of their standing on the eligible list at the time of certification.

DUTIES:

This is civil engineering work at the full performance level performing a variety of difficult engineering assignments with emphasis placed upon the application of broad knowledge of engineering mathematics, principles and practices in all phases of minor, or specific phases of major engineering projects.

REQUIREMENTS:

1. Presently employed by the City of Philadelphia with permanent Civil Service status with a Performance Rating of Satisfactory or higher;
and
2. EDUCATION:
   Completion of a bachelor's degree program at an accredited college or university with major course work in civil, sanitary, hydraulic or structural engineering, or completion of a bachelor's degree program at an accredited college or university with major course work in civil engineering technology and registration as a Professional Engineer as issued by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers;
and
3. GENERAL EXPERIENCE:
   One year of civil engineering experience;
and
4. SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE:
   One year of civil engineering experience at the intermediate level.

NOTE

1. Only post-bachelor's degree experience above the trainee level is considered to be intermediate level experience.
2. A bachelor's degree in an acceptable area of engineering and registration as a Professional Engineer, or completion of a master's degree in an acceptable area of engineering, will be considered equivalent to the one-year intermediate level experience requirement.

TEST REVIEW

ELIGIBLE LISTS:

Departmental and interdepartmental promotional eligible lists will be established as a result of this examination. An appointment in any department may be made from either one of the above-established promotional lists as deemed appropriate by the appointing authority.
